Train: SFX

Sierra Fruit Express

Expedited produce service to Southwest & Midwest destinations

Train originates in Portland staging

The Sierra Fruit Express is the SW&SF equivalent of the Green Fruit Express (GFX) trains which rushed Central Valley perishables to eastern markets. This train originates in the Pacific Northwest with expedited service to Southern California, the Midwest, and the East.

To minimize waiting time for perishables loaded in Los Molinos, the SFX picks-up hot reefer loads set up by the Los Molinos local. In addition, additional reefer loads imagined to have come from the Hamilton City branch (not yet modeled) are added to the SFX in Orchard yard with the help of the yard crew. The SFX’ run ends in Valley staging.
